When I say “boys are dumb” what I really mean is “boys have been raised in a patriarchal society that forces them into an incorrect and problematic view of masculinity that not only forces them to strip away valuable virtues from themselves, like patience and gentleness, but also forces them them to view and treat women in unhealthy ways that devalues women as people and makes them into objects purely for a man’s benefit”

but it’s a lot faster to say “boys are dumb”

why do people make shit arguments against queer representation by saying things like “the percentage of lgbt people in the population isn’t that high” well neither is the percentage of vampires but we see plenty of them in our media dont we

"Now “tribal trends” are totally “in.” You can walk into any store in the mall and see “Native” imagery everywhere. As a Native person, when I look at them, I can’t help but remember the not-so-distant past when my people weren’t allowed, by law, to wear these things. It’s such a constant reminder of the colonial power structures still in place. Back in the day, white people had the power to take away our culture, and now they have the power to wear it however they see fit. These are our images, our cultural symbols, yet we are completely powerless to have control over them."

The huge hook violently pierced through her mouth and into her head. She was too small to meet the WA government’s ‘target length’ to be killed – so she would have been returned to the water, where she may – or may not – have survived her injuries. Chances are, this young tiger shark would never have hurt anyone. But it didn’t matter.

The trial ‘cull’ off WA shorelines earlier this year resulted in the suffering of 164 sharks – 61 of them died ‘on the line’ or were killed. Their suffering and deaths all in the name of ‘public safety’ yet the government’s own review of the trial didn’t even address whether killing these animals made beach goers any safer … Sound fishy?

Now, the Government wants to extend the baiting and killing of sharks for another three years, even though marine experts have criticised the plan, and suggested effective, humane alternatives.
